Hospitalist

While we have a separate Hospitalist rotation, in reality, all of our general medicine rotations are geared to teach residents to function smoothly and efficiently in the inpatient setting. The topics that comprise the Society of Hospital Medicine’s core curriculum for a hospitalist are part of our scheduled didactic conferences year round.

We have designed the required specific Hospitalist rotation to further hone our residents’ abilities to practice efficient, cost effective inpatient care, while they gain independence. Our program’s hospitalists teach such topics as: hospital resource utilization (pharmaceutical choices, appropriate radiology procedures and laboratory usage), billing and discharge planning.

During the course of three-year training in our program, residents obtain the necessary experience to be competitive in the growing hospitalist job market nationwide.
